Marine Corps Permanent Duty Stations
When formal training (boot camp, School of Infantry, and military occupational schooling) is complete, each Marine is assigned to a Permanent Duty Station (PDS).
Your Marine may be stationed at any number of permanent duty stations around the world, depending on his or her Military Occupational Specialty (the job that your Marine will do while in the Corps).
The Unit Information Pages (UIPs), is a searchable database exclusively from MarineParents.com, Inc. By searching the database for your Marine's PDS, you'll find a page full of helpful information, links, message boards, Family Readines Officer names, and phone numbers. Click here to search.
MEU vs MEF
A MEF is a combined arms force consisting of ground, air and logistics forces. It possesses the capability for projecting offensive combat power ashore while sustaining itself in combat without external assistance for a period of 60 days.
The Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) is the smallest of the Marine, Air, Ground Task Force (MAGTF) and is comprised of about 2,200 Marines and Sailors. The MEU's major elements are the Command Element (CE), the Ground Combat Element (GCE), the Aviation Combat Element (ACE), and the Logistics Combat Element (LCE).
