Our volunteers continue to be the backbone of this organization! They do wonderful work and are putting in many hours to help families of poolees, recruits, Marines, and Veterans. In the month of September, our volunteers clocked 3007.49 volunteer hours! Their generosity and contribution to our Marine Parents support groups are beyond amazing. Marine Parents could not do what we do without the tireless hours of our volunteers!

Volunteer Spotlight - Lori Ballard

Today, we shine the spotlight on Lori Ballard!

Lori has been a volunteer with MarineParents since August 2019. She holds the following positions with MarineParents.


Group Leader 1st Battalion Bravo and Charlie Companies Parris Island
Group Leader 3rd Battalion Lima Company Parris Island
Group Leader MOS
Group Leader for our two Spanish Groups
Assistant Group Leader 1st Battalion Delta Company Parris Island
Assistant Group Leader SOI ITB East

We asked Lori to share her personal experience as a volunteer:

Why did you decide to volunteer with Marine Parents?

"I decided to volunteer with MarineParents because of the support I received while my son was at bootcamp. When my son was injured I was given the page for the support battalion which was a big help to me. I was so thankful for the support from beginning to end."

What do you find most rewarding about volunteering with MarineParents?

"I find it rewarding to give back to others the same support that I received. I have met so many wonderful people while volunteering and I love being a part of this wonderful community."

What would you say to someone who is interested in volunteering?

"If you are interested or thinking about volunteering, I would say go for it. It is so rewarding helping others. I am thankful for the friendships I have made with the other volunteers and I love the MarineParents organization."

With 3076 volunteer hours since August 2019, we thank Lori for her time and dedication to the members of our MarineParents groups! OOH-RAH!! MarineParents could not do what we do without our amazing volunteers!

Teresa has been a volunteer since September 2018. She is currently the Coach for 2nd Recruit Training Battalion Parris Island as well as Group Leader for 3rd Battalion India Company Parris Island. In September, Teresa volunteered 106 hours.
