Care Packages for Deployed Marines: Insurance

MarineParents.com

Do not sent care packages to recruits in Boot Camp. The information we provide on care packages is intended for Marines stationed overseas or on deployment. We repeat: Do NOT send care packages to your recruit in boot camp! If you're looking for information about mail and NO packages during boot camp, click here; be sure to read what "Gunny Says" at the bottom of that page.

You can insure your packages to APO/FPO addresses sent via United States Postal Service (USPS, US Mail). The insurance covers the package until it arrives in your Marine's hands. This is true even in combat zones. Make sure to keep your receipts and forms for the insurance. You have up to one year from the date the package was mailed to file any claims. The insurance covers loss or damage. Consult with your local USPS facility for additional information and/or claims.
