Doris is from Texas. She was raised in the city where she met her husband. Her husband is from a small town, and that is where they settled. She has been married for 25 years, and they have two sons, Adam and Kain. Her youngest, Kain, made her a MoM in December 2023. Kain got married in January 2024 and made Doris a mother-in-law. Her daughter-in-law serves in the USAF
Doris’s son graduated high school in 2022 and had talked about joining the military. A little over a year later, he made the announcement. Doris and her husband thought they had a few months before he would leave. It was not the case. In a matter of a month, he left for MCRDSD. That is where she found help and guidance with MarineParents.com. Through MarineParents volunteers, she found help connecting to the correct group and connecting with other members who were going through the same experiences and feelings. With all the support and guidance from the MarineParents volunteers and other members, she felt that is what she wanted to do: give help and support to parents and other family members in their recruits/Marines journey.
