Total Volunteer Hours 1st & 2nd Quarter of 2018: 149.5! Julie is a Group Guide for three Facebook pages at MarineParents.com. For the MCRD San Diego Delta Company group, Julie helps parents as they transition alongside their sons through the journey of boot camp. As a resident of the State of Nevada, Julie posts useful information from MarineParents.com and other sources for Nevada residents with a son or daughter in the Marine Corps. Nevada Finally, Julie volunteers for the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center page, which was recently launched by MarineParents.com.
Julie lives in Carson City, Nevada with her husband of over 26 years, Rod, two dogs and a cat. She works for the State of Nevada and Rod is a teacher. The couple has two sons: Dalton, a student at the University of Nevada, Reno, and Jarod, their Marine.
Her Marine son has wanted to be a Marine since the age of 9. On October 20, 2017, he fulfilled his dream by graduating from Delta Company at MCRD-San Diego. After graduating from the Infantry Training Battalion in January 2018, he moved to his Permanent Duty Station aboard the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Command at Twenty Nine Palms, CA.
Julie describes the Facebook groups offered through MarineParents.com as her "lifeline" while her son was in boot camp. "There is so much valuable information and emotional support offered to parents, and I want to be a part of helping others the way I was helped," she said.
