Recruit Parents en Espanol, Coach
Marine Parent and Volunteer
Facebook Groups Volunteer,
Aurora has been a volunteer with Marine Parents since November of 2015, initially serving as a Group Guide for the Recruit Parents Facebook en Español. As of March, 2016, Aurora was promoted to the role of Company Leader for the same group offering daily guidance and encouragement to families of recruits and new Marines. Additionally, Aurora is the translator of RecruitParents.com and MarineParents.com. She enjoys translating into Spanish to provide information for the benefit of family members who speak Spanish as their primary language. She has assumed the role as Battalion Leader for the same en Español group.
Originally from Mexico, Aurora has lived in the United Stated since 1996 and currently resides in Portland, Oregon with her husband, two daughters and Marine son. Prior to her son joining the Corps, Aurora didn't have any family members who had served in the military, but her son's excitement and enthusiasm about becoming a Marine helped her feel more prepared and supportive of his decision.
Aurora knows that being a Marine mother is not easy, but she finds it quite rewarding. She is gaining strength by helping others. Also, providing official information to Spanish-speaking families in their own language and encouraging them on their journey brings her an enormous amount of gratification and a sense of fulfillment.
