Yaritza is a proud mother of three children and a resident of Kissimmee, Florida. She shares her life with her loving husband, their son who serves as a United States Marine, and two beautiful daughters. Her eldest son graduated in October 2024, becoming a United States Marine Infantryman. Inspired by her brother, one of her daughters plans to follow in his footsteps and join the Marine Corps in 2026. Yaritza was deeply proud of her son’s decision to enlist, though it was also a bittersweet moment filled with sadness, as he is her firstborn. With faith in God, she accepted his calling and trusted in his dreams. At the beginning of this journey, she didn’t know much about military life, and only had a niece whose husband is a Marine, but even she couldn’t recall many details from that time. Thankfully, a recruiter, though not her son’s, gave her a business card and pointed her to helpful Facebook groups where volunteers could answer all her questions.

Yaritza joined all the groups recommended to her and found the support and answers she needed. Her desire to become a volunteer began when her son left for boot camp along with two of his friends. One of the boys’ mothers never received letters from her son, but through Yaritza, she was able to find peace. Since Yaritza’s son mentioned his friends in his own letters, she would share those updates. This experience created a powerful bond between the two mothers. That young Marine now calls Yaritza his “bonus mom,” and his mother and Yaritza have become more than friends—they are like sisters, now considered true family. Together, they planned everything to be there for their sons’ graduation. Yaritza cherishes the opportunity to help others and serve every day. She often reflects on how this journey transformed her life and is grateful to be a source of support for other Marine families.
