Michelle was born and raised in Illinois and still resides there with her family. She and her husband have a beautiful chaotic life that includes 5 kids (4 boys & 1 girl), 3 dogs, 3 cats, 2 birds, a bearded dragon, and a tank full of Cichlid fish. When their second oldest son chose to become a Marine, they were supportive and proud of his decision. They couldn’t wait to watch him graduate from boot camp in November 2024. Michelle has a large family of military vets. Her father and cousin were in the Navy, and her brother, sister-in-law, and uncle were Army vets. Her best friend, a Marine vet, gave her her lifelong love for the Corps. Michelle and her husband are volunteering locally with Scouting America and their County Fair Board. Michelle is a Photographer and substitute teacher, and her husband is an electrician. They are super proud of their children and their accomplishments and incredibly proud that their two oldest have achieved Eagle Scout and their 3 youngest are well on their way. All her children, besides her Marine, still live at home. The oldest works for a Veterans R&R that uses rescued Mustang horses as therapy animals for active-duty military and Vets. Her youngest 3 are all honor roll students who are 3 season athletes and active in Scouting and volunteering. Her daughter is also a dancer who loves participating in pageants in their area. When she isn’t volunteering or working, Michelle loves reading, cooking, and caring for her beehives and plants. She has a veritable jungle of plants in her sun room, her Zen space.

As an avid over-planner, when Michelle’s son came home and told her he wanted to be a Marine, she made it her mission to find out all she could about what he should expect and what they should expect as parents of a Marine. The people and resources she could find and connect with were invaluable. Always wanting to be involved and help out, she wanted to pay it forward. If she can help just one other parent through the emotional roller coaster of being a Marine Parent, that would make it all worth it.
