GL 4th Battalion (Parris Island) in training
Marine Parent and Volunteer
Recruit Parents Facebook Groups Volunteer,
Vickie has been a volunteer with Marine Parents since April of 2017, serving as the Platoon Parent for 4th Battalion, Papa Company, Parris Island. She became a part of the Papa Company group when her daughter became a Recruit. She was approached by the leaders of Papa Company because of her positive, outgoing attitude and encouraging support toward other Recruit parents. In her role, Vickie continues to encourage and support the Papa Company and 4th Battalion families through each 13 week boot camp cycle. She is now Group Leader for the 4th Battalion.
Vickie is married with three children and resides in Illinois. She is an Environmental Health Inspector. In her spare time, she coaches high school swim as well as summer swim. She also spends a lot of her time volunteering in the community. Her middle child graduated high school a semester early to join the Marine Corps. Vickie's father, grandfather, and great-grandfather were in the Army but it was no surprise when her daughter chose to join The Few, The Proud, The Marines as this has been a dream of hers for quite some time. The family is very proud of their Marine's choice and of her accomplishments.
From the first day Vickie became a part of the Papa Company family, she found a great deal of love and support from all involved in the group, especially her fellow Platoon Parents and the Papa Company Leaders, Deb & Stacey. As her daughter graduated boot camp, Vickie continued to show her love and support to parents who were going through the same feelings she had been dealing with over the past 13 weeks. She is a proud supporter of all military branches but her true love is with the United States Marine Corps. Vickie feels blessed to be a part of the USMC journey by sharing her experiences with the Papa Company and 4th Battalion families.
