Giving A Lot of Sole

McDaniels Marketing Sock Drive

To get into the Christmas spirit this year, a full-service marketing communications agency of Pekin, Illinois, is launching a sock drive for Marines with their holiday greeting.

McDaniels Marketing's greeting card this year features all of the employees wearing wacky Christmas socks, with a greeting that reads "Give Your Heart and 'Sole' to deployed Marines."

President Randall McDaniels commented that while having all their employees pose in crazy socks was a lot of fun, their efforts reach toward a much deeper mission. "It's our goal to get hundreds of socks to Marine Parents for their January 21 shipment to the troops in Afghanistan." reflected McDaniels. "This drive is one small way we can show our gratitude to the troops and celebrate the giving spirit of the season."

"Stars for Troops" from Hardee's

Franchise in Cleveland, TN Donates $10,000

The Hardee's franchise customers in Cleveland, J&S Restaurants Inc., came together to help Marines and families in a big way with a "Stars for Troops" fundraiser this year. The three week long campaign raised $11,638 at the Cleveland franchise, and over $1 million nationwide.

When the fundraiser ended, CKE Restaurants Inc. returned $10,000 to the Cleveland location to be donated to a program of their choice. Tammy Bivens, Marine Mom and vice-president of finance for J&S Restaurants, nominated Marine Parents. Tracy Della Vecchia, CEO and founder, said Marine Parents was delighted! She explained that 99.9 percent of donations will be used for Marine Parents outreach programs.

CEO of CKE Restaurants, Andrew F. Pudker, expressed his appreciation for the remarkable participation, saying that "Advocating for our military families and veterans is a cause close to my heart and the hearts of CKE employees."

A Message for All Seasons

There are many facts and traditions important to the Marine Corps, from songs and seals, to the following prayer below:

Almighty Father, whose command is over all and whose love never fails, make me aware of Thy presence and obedient to Thy will. Keep me true to my best self, guarding me against dishonesty in purpose and deed and helping me to live so that I can face my fellow Marines, my loved ones and Thee without shame or fear..."
