2011 Summer Dollar Campaign
Mail in $1 in Support of Troops Overseas
Each summer we find ourselves short on funds to ship care packages overseas to the Marines. We began The Care Package Project™ Dollar Campaign in 2007 to resolve this issue, and it has been successful ever since! This year our goal is to raise the $12,500 needed to ship 1200 care packages on July 23rd. We're asking each website visitor and newsletter recipient to mail in just $1 in support of the troops overseas. If everyone donates a dollar we can reach our goal! All you have to do is stick a dollar bill in an envelope and mail it to: MarineParents.com, Inc. Attn: Care Package Campaign PO Box 1115 Columbia, MO 65205 Donate online ~ Learn more ~ Visit the event page |
Support Groups for Military Parents
Join One in Your Area or Start Your Own
Marine Parents regional support groups are currently listed on our website, but we are transitioning them onto Marine Family Network (MFN) so that members of the groups can communicate easily online.
MFN currently lists support groups in California, Illinois, Kentucky, Nebraska, Texas and Wisconsin, but we are adding additional support groups as we receive confirmation from group coordinators.
Log on to MFN to check out the existing support groups for parents of Marines, or consider starting your own support group in your home town. We walk you through the process; check out the links at the top of the support group page to learn how to get started.

TSA Expands Wounded Warrior Security Program
All Veterans Now Benefit from Program
According to an article by Paralyzed Veterans of America (www.pva.org), the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) program that formerly assisted injured service members through airport security has expanded to assist all military veterans.
The program was created in 2005 in conjuction with the Department of Defense to ease the airport screening process for injured service members. Since many paralyzed veterans have complained that the screening process is undignified and inconvenient, the program is now available to all veterans whether injured, paralyzed or otherwise.

A Recruit Graduation Family Day Photo Op
A proud grandpa (who happens to be sporting our "Marine Corps Grandpa" T-shirt) sits with his new Marine on MCRD San Diego Family Day on May 5, 2011. The Marine graduated with Charlie Company Platoon 1051 on May 6, 2011. We thank the Marine's fiancé for allowing us to use this awesome photo from her Marine Family Network profile page.
