38th Commandant of the Marine Corps

On July 11, 2019, the 38th Commandant of the Marine Corps, Lt. General David H. Berger, will take command as General Robert B. Neller will step down at the end of his term.

Lt. General Berger was nominated on March 26 and then confirmed on June 5.

His previous command was the Marine Corps Combat Development Command, where he oversaw the latest technology and training used to prepare Marines for future battles. New tech, drones, and automatic weapons are being used and it will be Lt. General Berger's responsibility to ensure that Marines are trained properly.

Berger is a graduate of Army Ranger School, Jumpmaster School, Navy Dive School, and Marine Corps Amphibious Reconnaissance School.
