Dear Marine Corps Family,
We've had lots of questions this week on
communications from overseas and the notification
process in case of an emergency. We've included
some quick links to security information on the left as
well as new information on the chat room schedule.
And the long-awaited MarineParents.com conference
begins Friday, April 21!
Casualty Notification
|
|
In case of Missing, Injury, or Death
A casualty can be one of several things, including
missing, wounded, or killed in action. Generally, the
casualty number reported by the media after
a "breaking news" incident is total casualties, which
includes injuries as well as deaths. Media headlines
frequently do not distinguish between the two. This
section addresses the casualty notification process
for family members as well as offering some tips and
advice should you receive notification.

Communication During Deployment
|
|
Why would communications be shut down?
For families of Marines serving in a combat zone,
getting a phone call or email from your Marine is
vitally important. There are instances however, when
communications are temporarily "shut down" overseas
or are simply being repaired or upgraded. Remember,
Marines in a combat zone are subject to security
guidelines with communications and any lapse in
communication should be viewed as a positive
security measure.
