11th MEU Deploys to Pacific, Middle East

Approximately 4,000 Marines and Sailors with the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit and the Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group (MKIARG)left San Diego last week for a seven month deployment to the western Pacific and the Middle East.

While deployed, the MKIARG and 11th MEU will serve in the 3rd, 5th, and 7th fleet areas of operation providing maritime security, crisis response, theater security cooperation, and forward naval presence.
